"I have a now longstanding teaching background in numerous styles of guitar, placing an emphasis on classical technique for younger students/beginners and jazz/blues/rock for older/more advanced students. The better part of my time is spent at one of two institutions: The East Bay Center for the Performing Arts--a venerable Richmond (CA)-based arts institution with a tremendous history of community inolvement and enrichment--and at the huge East Bay-based Piedmont Piano Company. "I have a specialization in classical guitar/youth guitar training, credentialed by the widely praised Kinderguitar method. Kinderguitar emphasizes group/family involvement and a creative method of instructing in classical guitar basics (with a flexible enough repertoire/concept to provide a firm foundation for any number of stylistic pursuits later on). I've taught numerous methods over the years, and this is by far the most consistently successful and methodologically clear. The introductory course/method is designed for 5-10 year olds, and it genuinely works.
